The famous lieder singer Alexandra Trianti-Kyriakidi (1901-1977), a founding member of the Society and President of the Board from 1968 until her death, bequeathed her assets to the Friends of Music Society, which has held and managed her Legacy since 1993.

In accordance with the donor’s wishes, the proceeds from the Al. Trianti Legacy fund the operation of the Society’s “Lilian Voudouri” Music Library and award music scholarships to talented young Greek artists.

Since 1994, the Society’s Board of Directors has regularly announced Competitions for the awarding of scholarships in a specific specialty each time: Orchestral Instruments (strings, winds, percussion), Piano, Classical Guitar, Lyrical Singing, Orchestral Conducting, Opera Music Preparation, Musicology, etc.

From 1994 to 2021, the Al. Trianti Scholarship has honored 85 young musicians for studies lasting one to three academic years at major music academies abroad.

The Al. Trianti Scholarships are awarded by decision of the Board of Directors after auditions of the candidates and a relevant recommendation from the Judging Committee.
